Christmas and New Year without Gelo

As we prepared for the coming Christmas and New Year, my wife and I decided to invite her nephew and niece come over to our house to spend the holidays.  That is, to ease our loneliness and longing for our son.

But an added bonus was given to us, my office assigned me to a business trip on a far away port together with a colleague to install a biometric finger scan machine.  So, I tag along my wife because we know there is a beautiful beach resort in that area, plus we can make some side trip to other islands and see some scenic and tourist spots, and indeed we had a fun time.

Christmas eve and time came without much of a hitch.  Although, we still miss Gelo but we had some fun time with the family as we shared the noche buena.  We spend the Christmas afternoon at the memorial park and had little activities like card games and eating.  We know Gelo is smiling at us at that moment.

But it was when New Year came that we felt the pain. Wifey was the first to break down as she hurried to the dresser to hug Gelo's favorite clothes and cried.  I  wasn't able to contain my feelings and cried with her.  We really missed our son and wish he was with us in the celebration of the New Year.

Thank you Gelo for the 10 years with us.  Those years are beautiful and will never be forgotten as long as we live. You have touched our lives and others too.

Happy New Year!
